                                        1. What are some ways for experimenting with words for learning and practicing a spelling pattern? Last  year I had my kiddos use different manipulatives to work on words and their spelling pattern; like a big oil drip pan to use for magnetic letters, whiteboards, letter stamping...the kiddos really liked that one:) Also I bought these boards at Walmart that helped the kiddos with there letters, they used those as well:) Nursery Rhyme Poems...they had to find the letter we were working on that week...The kiddos also loved the computer games too... If you know of any more good ones...comment please:)   2. How often do you introduce new words? Do your students have their own lists of words that they can work on? How will you keep track of words...

How will you instill the importance (or urgency) of 'listening to reading' in your students and especially those students who have had little 'lap time' or reading done for them in their own homes? I really did not push listening to reading last year like I should have, but I am a beginning teaching, so I learn from my mistakes:) I am going to use the daily 5 in my classroom this year, so I am going to incorporate the listen to read section and hope it works out. I know as I have been reading that modeling is so important and I have learn...

1. Establish a gathering place for brain and body breaks.  I never thought of calling it other than "come to the carpet" That is actually a great idea...I am going to have to think about that one during the summer...maybe even for my small group table as well...:) Having something labeled and known to the students all year will help the kiddos..at least I think so:) I have a jungle theme for my classroom..maybe something all with that theme...any thoughts from fellow bloggers would be awesome:) 2. Developing the concept of "good fit" books I am definitely using that lesson for picking the books with the kiddos, especially since I am teaching K again..:) I know they will get a kick out of that lesson, especially with the different shoe sizes that are funny...:) Should I have books in their box's already?? 3. Create anchor charts with students... I love..love them and try to use them for everything:) This year I will take pictures and put in a binder, so ...

    1. Do you trust your students? How do you build this trust? Are you able to trust them and allow them to be independent throughout all aspects of your day? Are you going to be able to stay out of their way? I know that you always have to build that trust with your students right at the beginning!! I've even realized if you do not build that trust, then that trust will be broken very easily, especially with 5-6 year olds...This was my first year teaching and I always told my kiddos what to do...never did I let them choose what to do, especially when it was center time...I have learned now that I will try to give them more independence this year to see how that goes...and hopefully I will stay out of their way:) 2.
